About Edith & Audrey
I've been sewing for as long as I can remember. Whilst still in my teens someone gave me a 1920s hand crank Singer sewing machine which I was still using in the early 2000s when I launched my first online shop. Then one day I was handed a 1960s Bernina 730 which was a bit like hitting the sewing machine jackpot and I'm still using it today! I use a machine to create the bulk of my designs, but I'm also an advocate for slow stitching and many of my cards feature hand stitching or embroidery.
The name? Edith and Audrey are my grandmothers, who inspired me to live life on the thrifty side. The make do and mend approach often influences my work as I love to salvage and reuse fabrics that once had a life as something else, perhaps an old dress or a vintage curtain. Edith, although very poorly now, is still with us at a ripe old age of ninety eight. Sadly Audrey passed away in 2017. My grandparents were a huge part of my early childhood and I think about them often.
